CBUSA Tournaments focus on recognizing one “Difference Maker” from each team emphasizing the importance of great leadership - at a time when it’s needed most.
God tells us to “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
In the modern day of sports everything is about I, I, I, my kid, my kid….it is time all coaches, parents, programs, tournaments focus on what truly matters. No more crying about getting out or making an error, no more whining about what position I played, or where I’m at in the batting order. No more my team sucks, or teammate is terrible. No more I am better than you nonsense. No more bitterness, no more jealousy. No more hate.
It is time to overindex our recognition on the player who is selfless, humble, team first. The player who is coachable, doesn’t whine, cry, or throw a tantrum because he got out or didn’t like an umps call... the player who runs his tail off through first even though he is out by a mile, who hustles back to the dugout when he strikes out.
Let’s recognize the player who congratulates opponents, picks up a teammate who’s down, who thanks the parents, coaches, umpires, who hustles on and off the field.
Through Youth Baseball, we need leaders to emphasize a healthy competitive mindset, while cultivating a team first, never quit, never give up attitude. While there are a small number of players who will actually get to the MLB - it’s our job to prep these boys to be Difference Makers in the real world.
The diamond is the platform to teach leadership. That being a future leader doesn’t start in the future, it starts now…
Thank you,
